When a Crime is not a Crime

Belinda knew that taking the babies was wrong. She knew it. But she was frieghtened. After all, hadn’t the little girl — she called herself Sasha, with the most adorable three-year old lisp –said that the baby was sheep, and Belinda knew that she meant asleep. The baby was asleep. Only, babies are not swollen, blackened, or rank with decay when they are ‘sheep.’ This baby was dead! And that realization, plus the children, alone in an alley, clearly abandoned, gave Belinda’s feet wings and she did not stop running with them in tow — the silent boy who said that he was Matthew and the little girl Sasha.

This terrifying scene is from the new and exciting novel I am writing. I look forward to comments about this story line and will even acept suggestions!
